Metallica (1986) – Master Of Puppets (DCC) [Remastered][320KBPS]

The albums were remastered by Steve Hoffman in 1999. This link provides some information about it : http://www.encycmet.com/news/2002-03-17b.shtml . These two albums are best examples of the remastering done the right way. The sound is very organic and powerful. As opposed to the batch remastering of albums done by major labels, DCC paid attention to every single aspect of the albums sound.

Faith Of Fear, Anacrusis and Armoros do have some aspects in common, due to the fact that their albums were released in the late 80′s when there was a Thrash explosion. In the late 80′s to early 90′s Thrash bands were looking for the new ways to develop the genre. This spawned Groove Metal and some original sounding, slightly progressive Thrash. Groove Metal though was the main trend of the time.

80s Bay Area Style Thrash; very fast, technical, and could be considered death/thrash to some extent. It’s also somewhat progressive.

This is a recording done during the rehearsal of my band. We play old school black metal. Main influences : Darkthrone (Under A Funeral Moon, A Blaze In The Northern Sky), Mayhem (De Misteriis Dom Sthanas), Marduk (Dark Endless, Those Of Unlight). When we created the songs we did not mean to sound like anyone. Later on listening through our material, I found some similarities with the upmentioned albums.
On this recording there are 5 tracks. Instruments : bass (me) and guitar. No drums or vocals. We are still in search of a drummer. Tracks 1 and 3 were entirely composed by me, track 5 entirely composed by the guitar player, tracks 2 and 4 are co-composed. The track order reflects the order the songs were created in.

One of the incarnations of the famous band Pentagram (USA). In this demo the band presents music which hard to classify. It is generally slow to mid-paced, very gloomy, yet with a fair dose of blues elements. Somewhat reminiscent of very early Black Sabbath. You may ask, why I do not call it Traditional Doom Metal ? Fair question. The demo features some moments that would not sound out of place in Black Metal, Sludge and Thrash Metal. Highly recommended for download.

Some fresh albums from 2009.

Sacrifice (2009) – The Ones I Condemn [320 Kbps]

This is so far my favourite Thrash Metal album of a year. It does not bear much resemblance to the earlier Sacrifice works, yet it is still a very solid album. I would call it a modernized version of Thrash – modern sound, old school essence and some modern incorporations in music. On The Ones I Condemn the band is as intense as ever, sometimes bordering on Death Metal, yet retaining some moments of Forward To Termination. Vocals are on a week side though – they sound strained, but despite this the delivery is still venom-spitting. Highly recommended !

Megadeth (2009) – Endgame [320 Kbps]

Coming from a big band that started in the 80′s this album is surprisingly good – among the best in its category. It is hard to call it a Thrash Metal albums, rather a Heavy Metal album with some Thrashy moments and a couple of Thrash songs. Some riffs sound similar to KEA (the heavy metal / hard rock part of it). Vocals as with many other Megadeth releases are very weak – Dave sounds bored and tired. He moans monotonously through out the album doing occasional attempts at singing. All in all quite a good album which is stronger than most of the band’s recent material.

Ripped from the 1988 Noise International CD. CD SPV 08-4733, N 0037-3. Tracks 01 – 09 – Pleasure To Kill (1986). Tracks 10-12 – Flag Of Hate (1986) . This is a non-remastered version. Seems to be the first CD edition of these albums.

The CUE sheet shown here is fixed. The packed into the archive has the album title Flag of Hate [EP]. In this one the album title is remade into Pleasure To Kill ; The Flag Of Hate [EP] .

This is by far the best sounding version of this album circulating in the Internet. The rip is done from a still sealed vinyl during the first play back. AxeKiller’s remastered this album for their reissue and they screwed up the sound completely. This version features the original sound of the album. The track Welcome To The Slaughter house is taken from the Metal Massacre VI CD, as the quality of this track on the LP was unsatisfactory.
